Trees On Fire is an eco-band out of Virginia that has taken environmental action through its music. In particular, the band has focused on the protection of the Atchafalaya Basin in Lousiana and has partnered with a local non-profit to raise awareness of the vulnerable area. The band toured Louisiana for the cause and has since turned its focus toward stopping coal and mountain-top removal. The band members have taken the 2% Solution pledge and have encouraged their fans to do the same. The group was named "Greenest Regional Band" by Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine in 2007.
According to the band's website: Whether or not Trees on Fire achieves fame like its musical idols Radiohead and the Beatles, the band's burning passion to spread love, goodwill and great music will remain. "We're a lot more concerned with making quality music than making it in the business," said [band co-founder Blake] Hunter. "That seems like a waste of energy. Our goal is to expand, explore and enjoy every minute of it. So far, that's what's been happening and it's a beautiful thing."
In July 2009, Trees On Fire provided the song "Birds and the Bees" as a free download on Climate Crossroads.
